Bound by Night by Larissa Ione
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Vampires are reborn in this new series from Larissa Ione.
Nicole Martin comes from the notorious Martin Family. The Martins are famous for all the experimental drugs that derived from the lab rat vamps and methods to help keep them slaves. (Think weapons, and experimental cures…..made and marketed on the inhuman torture of another) That and the fact her family was almost all slaughtered by their subservient vampire slaves. The only survivors are her and her 1/2 brother, who turns out to be a sadistic jealous Looney tune~ Nicole’s life is turned upside down by Riker, he has been haunting her dreams since she was a very young child when she saw him kill her nanny Terese, but 20 years later standing in her doorway with demands for help she is effected in more ways than one.
Riker is a lone wolf in the Moonbound Clan of Vampires. Still not emotionally over the loss of his mate, his revenge is fueled by unrelinquished anger for the Martin household. When opportunity strikes he has no qualms against taking Nicole against her will to help achieve his clan’s safety.
No cost is too big? Or is it?
Her kidnap leads to their salvation~
Little do they know Rikers kidnapping of Nicole leads them down a life altering path. One neither expected, and the truths that are brought to light also surface past torment. Nicole’s eyes open to the harsh realities of what her family’s corporation has done to the vampires. I assure you it is beyond the moral compass of the most heinous individuals. I think what Nicole is subjected to really shows how wrong and blinded she has been all these years. Riker’s long compartmentalized past has no choice but to be called out when confronted by reality and his grief may have cost him more than he ever realized he had.
This book really spins the vampire storyline, the fact they all come from Native American Indian tribes. Way Cool!! The tribal influence carefully weaved throughout the book gives it a one of a kind feel! Refreshing, magical and romantic~ Sigh.. This Earthy take on vampirism will be well received. I found vampires to be reborn in this first book of the series; I am eagerly anticipating the rest of these books! I hope she gets crazy with this series!!! The basis for the series is so well thought-out and original, what more can you ask for? But really can’t say that I am surprised. Larissa Ione never skimps on the detail or holds back in her writing.
